Study of pedicles and spinal canal diameters at the level of lumbar vertebral in normal adult Saudi population using computed tomography

The values of normal transverse (interpedicular) and sagittal (midsagittal) diameters are different at various levels lumbar spinal canal in individuals the same race differ identical races. aim study was to determine reference range dimensions evaluate pedicle with respect level, age, gender Saudi population by using Computed Tomography. This conducted Najran province (K.S.A), archival abdominal CT scan images from PACS hospitals were used. data this collected 210 (102 male 108 female) adults ages, over a period 20 months (2019 - 2021). mean distance (SCTR) showed steady decrease L1 L4, as there an increasing L5 relative anteroposterior diameter (SCAP) L3, then gradual increase L4 (Fig.4-10). pattern observed males only female L2 L5, no significant difference noted any level for width (PW) L5. While height (PH) conclude that tomography is reliable method determining morphological measurements pedicles diameter.
